California Mountains are picturesque, massive, singular, rugged, civilized, tamed or never tamed. They are volcanoes aching for a new start, or they are piles created by the movement of land when the world was young.
They are rounded and welcoming or craggy and challenging. They are what they want to be -- and nothing else.
Look around you. Those mountains you see may hold more challenge that you think.
To see this range is to see California. This is the deceptively rolling hillside that is called the Coastal Range. Madrone, Mountain Laurel, Oak, Coastal Pine, Redwoods..... these are all found on these mountains. Wild Boar, Cougar, deer, elk, badgers, skunk, possom, wild turkey .... Red-Tailed Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Kestrel, Peregrin Falcoln ... all find a home in these mountains.
